Description

We are looking for a Coffee Shop Supervisor to lead the team at Local Grind. You will work with our chef to deliver high-quality service and motivate staff to provide stellar customer service. Coffee Shop Supervisor's responsibilities include maintaining the Coffee Shop  revenue, profitability, and quality goals. You will ensure efficient operation, as well as maintain high production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards. To be successful in this role, you’ll need management skills and experience in the front and back of the house. We want you to know how to oversee the dining area, check-in with customers, and balance capacity. You’ll hire qualified Barristas, breakfast cook, and Wait Staff set work schedules, and make sure we comply with health and safety restaurant regulations. We’ll expect you to lead by example and uplift our staff during busy moments in our fast-paced environment. Ultimately, you will ensure our Coffee Shop runs smoothly and customers have a pleasant experiences.

 

responsibilities for this position include:

Responsible for scheduling, timekeeping, mid and end of season appraisals, and daily supervision of front of house staff, Accurately schedule staff to business level based on forecast
  • Hold and document daily pre-shift meetings and conduct all staff meetings as needed
  • Ensure the health and safety of staff and customers in the café
  • Responsible to monitor switching equipment function strictly based on switching operation rules
  • Proper guest service requires an employee staff that is thoroughly trained in service sequence, product knowledge, and makes every effort to meet the needs of each and every guest
  • Responsible for cash handling, safe verification and daily deposits for multiple locations
  • Ordering and Inventory monthly
  • Handle guest concerns and react quickly and professorially communicating daily with chef
  • Maximize revenues by communicating regularly with the outlet manager and F&B team to implement agreed upon strategies, practices, and promotions
  • Have full knowledge of outlet menus
  • Uphold all safety and sanitation policies in the outlet
  • Support staff by working the busiest shifts and covering all positions when needed
  • Responsible and efficient control on inventory and products
  • Daily pass-on to outlet manager
  • Flexible days off to ensure business coverage including weekends and holidays
  • Hold daily lineups with staff and communicative hotel and department objectives
  • Assist with all phases of restaurant operations, ensuring all facilities and equipment are in proper working order
  • Closely monitor opening and closing procedures for the facility
  • Assist with staffing/scheduling requirements for the outlet

  • Assist manager with maintaining accuracy of all banks, manage and audit all cashier open and close procedures, follow all audit and money-handling procedures
  • Maintain impeccable cleanliness standards
  • Ensure the cleanliness of all areas of the cafe
  • Interface with client representatives to fulfill catering and engagement event need
  • Oversee and assist with the sanitation of work stations including floors, worktables, walls, refrigerators, meat blocks, equipment, and utensils
  • Understand and utilize the proper use of and storage of chemicals used in the location
  • Inside kitchen area and or dish room
  • Supervise the café team in all aspects of the department and ensure service standards are followed
  • Support the inventory process to effectively balance supplies against budge
Desired Experience
 
  • Excellent customer service skills with professional skills to handle and resolve complaints, conflicts, and other issues
  • Skills in use of computers, preferable in a PC, Windows-based operating environment to allow for development and maintenance of recording keeping systems and procedures
  • Ability to plan, cook and serve Café and catering menus to current  standards of excellence
  • Ability to plan and execute a variety of flavorful and popular menus
  • Ability to analyze event requests and to assess catering product and equipment requirements
  • Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments to maximize employee development, and to stay within the university mandated hours worked regulations
  • To endeavor to resolve all complaints during shift and to log all complaints in log book for further follow up
  • To supervise cash handling and banking procedures
  • To prepare daily banking and cash flow reports
  • To establish and instruct staff in cash security procedures
  • To deal with irregular payments
  • To supervise the maintenance of service equipment
  • To monitor standards of guest facilities and services
  • To control stock and monitor security procedures
  • To assist with menu and wine list creation
  • To supervise functions
  • Lift and carry up to 25-50 lbs.(kegs of beer, food trays )
  • High School graduate, formal college education in hospitality, preferred
  • Must have current alcohol awareness certification
  • Microsoft Office proficiency to include Excel, word, outlook and publisher programs, POS system competency, Time Keeping competency
  • Ability to work and stand for extended periods of time (8-12 hours per shift)
  • Previous experience working in food & beverage or a restaurant environment, previous experience working as a barista, preferred
