Purpose of Position:

Under the direction of the Resort Director of Maintenance, the groundskeeper is responsible for the maintenance of the golf course.  Performs all work in accordance with essential functions and responsibilities as described below.

Responsibilities:        

Duties shall include but not be limited to:

  • Maintains and cuts the grass on tee boxes, fairways, roughs, fringes, and greens.
  • Maintains bunkers.
  • Assists with sodding and trimming.
  • Uses equipment such as walking and riding greens mowers, tee mowers, fairway mowers, rough mowers, rollers, bunker rakes, carts, push mowers and a variety of powered and non-powered hand tools.
  • Observe all safety practices and protocols. 
  • Participates in required pieces of training and meetings.
  • Performs other required tasks and duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to understand and receive instruction in English
  • Works cooperatively with others in a team environment
  • No such thing as "Not my job"

Experience/Education:

  • High school degree or equivalent; or in pursuit
  • Previous Golf Course maintenance experience preferred.

Work Environment;  Physical Demands:

  • Work tasks are performed mainly outdoors and involve physical strength and endurance.  Must be able to work in varying temperatures and inclement weather.
  • Works with heavy equipment such as mowers, rollers, cutters, and golf carts.
  • The position requires walking and standing for long periods of time.   The length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
  • Must be able to exert a well-paced ability to maneuverer between functions occurring simultaneously. 
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity.
  • Medium Work: Must be able to exert and lift 50 lbs of force occasionally and 25lbs of force on a regular and continuing basis to move objects
  • Heavy Work: Must be able to exert and lift 100 lbs of force occasionally and in excess of 50 lbs of force frequently and in excess of 20 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis to move objects.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch frequently.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near and color vision and depth perception.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment. 

Projected Work Schedule:

Any request or anticipated absence from the agreed schedule requires prior approval from the Resort Director of Maintenance.
